Gonzaga Women's Tennis Salvages Final Match

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Gonzaga University's women's tennis team salvaged seventh place in the West Coast Conference Championship with a 4-3 win over the University of San Francisco Sunday.
The Bulldogs got singles victories from No. 1 Sarah Ust, No. 4 Leaigh Orne and No. 6 Taio Miller, putting the outcome of the team result on the outcome of the doubles point. Ust and Jamie Buterbaugh posted an 8-2 victory over Aaryn Volkman-Carey Savage at No. 1, and Angie Fry-Katie Rock downed Heidi Kromschroder-Nikki Kobayashi at No. 3 doubles to give Gonzaga the decisive point.
Gonzaga finished the WCC Championship 1-2, and completed the season 11-12 overall.
Pepperdine University claimed the team title and automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament with a 4-1 victory over Loyola Marymount University. Host University of San Diego took third place with a 5-0 win over the University of Portland, the Pilots finishing fourth. Saint Mary's College claimed fifth place with a 4-3 win over Santa Clara University, the Broncos finishing sixth.
