Women's Crew Wins Fifth Straight WCC Rowing Title

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Gonzaga University women's crew continued its domination of rowing in the West Coast Conference as the Zags won their fifth straight WCC Rowing Championship on Sunday morning at Lake Natoma outside of Sacramento.
The championship which is decided by a points standing system following three different races witnessed Gonzaga finish with 27 points placing them six points ahead of runner-up San Diego. Loyola Marymount and Santa Clara tied for third place with 15 points each while Saint Mary's finished fifth in the championship.
Gonzaga won the two premier races of the day with a two-second victory in the Varsity 8 race and a six-second victory in the Second 8 race. Gonzaga would place fourth in the Varsity 4 as Saint Mary's claimed the event. Gonzaga head coach Glenn Putyrae earned his second West Coast Conference Coach of the Year honor while Vicki Olson, Nickie Lustig, Bonnie Corbin and coxswain Courtney Haase earned All-West Coast Conference honors for GU. San Diego's Alison Cox, Kimberly Cupini, Saint Mary's Sabrina Linden, LMU's Charlotte Livingstone and Santa Clara's Katie Collard rounded out the All-WCC squad.
