SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University crew will host Washington State University this Saturday in the last home regatta of the fall season for the Bulldogs. Racing will start at 9 a.m. and will continue with second and third heats at 10 and 11 a.m. at the Gonzaga Boat House on the Spokane River.
The format for the varsity men's and women's boats will consist of two heat races down the 3,500 meter course. The opening heat format will have a side-by-side start for the boats in order to generate a head-to-head racing format. The opening race times will decide starting position for the second heat which will be a chase format in which each boat will start in front of the next boat based on the interval that boat finished behind the preceding boat. The novice boats for both schools will start in the side-by-side format and cover the 3,500 meter course one time.
Due to construction on the Argonne Street bridge, fans are encouraged to watch racing action from Boulder Beach along Upriver Drive or from the Gonzaga boat house. In addition to Saturday's dual regatta against Washington State on Saturday, Gonzaga will host its annual Class Day Races on Sunday morning starting at 9 a.m.
