Gonzaga Rower Honored By USRowing

SPOKANE, Wash. - Former Gonzaga rower Nicole Lustig was one of nine men and nine women named to the 2002 USRowing Collegiate Honor Roll First team announced by USRowing earlier this week.
Lustig graduated in May of 2002 after helping guide the Gonzaga women's rowing team to three consecutive West Coast Conference championships and back-to-back appearances in the Avaya Collegiate Rowing championships. Lustig earned All-WCC and All-Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association honors in 2001 and 2002 as Gonzaga's varsity eight won the 2002 WIRA championship. Lustig was also named the Gonzaga Senior Women's Athlete of the Year in 2002.
The USRowing Collegiate Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who have excelled in both academics and rowing, as well as participated in extra curricular activities. Applicants must be USRowing members, have rowed or coxed in a men's or women's priority open or lightweight boat that raced at a league championship, have completed four semesters or six quarters of academic work, and have earned a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
USRowing is the non-profit membership organization recognized by the United States Olympic Committee as the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the U.S. The 2002 USRowing Collegiate Honor Roll includes six members of the 2001 teams, while Anna Mickelson and John Damen are three-time, first-team selections.
