Syverson Paces Men's Golf On First Day

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - Gonzaga University's Adam Syverson shot a 3-over-par 147 Monday and was in a nine-way tie for 31st after two rounds of the Bill Cullum/Countrywide Intercollegiate Men's Golf Tournament.

The Bulldogs are 15th with a 607, 10 strokes behind Grand Canyon University in 14th. Cal State University-Stanislaud shot a 572 for a 3-stroke lead over New Mexico State University heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes.

Syverson shot 75-72 over the par 72, 6,707-yard Wood Ranch Golf Club. Ryan Thornberry of CSU-Stanislaus and Ryan Dwight of Cal Poly shared the lead at 138 for a a 2-stroke advantage over Chaz Inouye of Loyola Marymount University and Yoshio Yamamoto of Austin Peay State University.
