Syverson Tied For 7th After 36 Holes

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Adam Syverson was tied for seventh, but that was the only bright spot for Gonzaga University's men's golf team Monday after two rounds of the Santa Clara University Invitational.

Syverson put together rounds of 76-73 to stand 5-over-par after 36 holes on the par 72, 6,926-yard Silver Creek Valle3y Country Club in San Jose, Calif.

The Bulldogs find themselves in last place in the eight-team field with a 628, six shots behind Western New Mexico University heading into Tuesday's final round. The host Broncos hold a commanding 7-shot lead over the University of San Francisco. SCU fired a 599, USF a 606.

Chris Heintz of UCLA, competing as an individual as the Bruins do not have a complete team entered, holds the individual lead at 1-over-par 145 for a 1-shot lead over SCU teammates Justin Ahasic and Jong Yoon.

The tournament is the final fall event for Gonzaga University.
