Buterbaugh wins Whitworth Women's Open

SPOKANE, Wash. - Jamie Buterbaugh defeated Carolyn Pratt to claim the championship title in the Whitworth Women's Tennis Open on Sunday afternoon. Buterbaugh defeated Pratt, 6-2, 6-1, after defeating teammate Sirrah Williams in the semifinal round.
Gonzaga University also performed well in the doubles competition as all four doubles teams made it to the semifinal round of play. Katie Sanders/Williams will compete against Kendall Bates/Angela Fry to determine the doubles champion of the tournament at a later date.
The Bulldogs are back in action as they host Montana State University on Friday at 1 p.m. before traveling to the University of Montana Tournament for Saturday and Sunday play.
