LOS ANGELES - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team fell to 5-6 on the season as the Bulldogs dropped Thursday's match to West Coast Conference foe Loyola Marymount, 7-0, in Los Angeles. Gonzaga lost all seven points including being swept in all three of the doubles matches. Gonzaga's lone chance for a point in the match was Sirrah Williams who played LMU's Jennifer Baker to three sets in the No. 5 position. The players each walked away with 6-0 decisions in the opening two sets before Baker held off Williams 6-4 in the third.
Gonzaga's No. 1 doubles of Jamie Buterbaugh and Aaryn Volkmann pushed the Lions No. 1 doubles team to an 8-6 decision in the Bulldogs first doubles match. LMU easily won the other two doubles matches to take the point with scores of 8-1 and 8-0. Buterbaugh, playing in the No. 1 singles spot, had the next best effort for singles as she fell 6-3, 6-3. No other player than Williams and Buterbaugh garnered more than two games in their singles action.
Gonzaga fell to 0-3 on its Spring Break trip to California and will wrap up the week long trip with a Saturday match at WCC rival San Francisco.
