Gonzaga Women Third In WCC Golf

MADERA, Calif. - Gonzaga University's Kate Siddell shot a 36-hole total of 147 Monday to help the Bulldogs to third place after the first day of the West Coast Conference Women's Golf Championship.

Siddell had rounds of 72-75 over the par 73, 5,873-yard Riverbend Golf Club to put her in a five-way tie for fifth. Carolina Llano of Pepperdine University leads the tournament going into Tuesday's final 18 holes after a 70-72 - 142 for a 1-stroke lead over teammate Katherine Hull and a 4-shot lead over Pepperdine's Lindsey Wright and the University of San Francisco's Lisa Chen who were both at 146.

The Waves hold an 8-stroke margin over USF in the team race, while Gonzaga is third at 613 for an 11-stroke lead over the University of Portland at 624. Santa Clara University is last at 634 as only five WCC schools sponsor women's golf.

Other Gonzaga results have Kelsey Posedel tied for 11th at 152, Carrie DeGree all alone in 15th at 157, Erin Picht 18th after a first-day total of 159 and Libby Campbell 23rd with a 165.
