Men's Cross Country Wins Sasquatch Invite, Women Finish Second

SPOKANE, Wash. - Three Gonzaga University men's runners finished in the top five on Saturday morning including a first place finish by Ryan Anderson as the Bulldogs won the Sasquatch Invite at Spokane Falls Community College. Anderson was the first runner to cross the finish line on 6,400 meter course in 5:01.7 while Joe Manning finished third for Gonzaga in 5:05.3 and Joe Miller crossed in fifth in 5:09.2.

Gonzaga won the four team event with 38 points just enough to edge host Spokane Falls Community College which finished second with 46 points. Whitworth College and Lewis-Clark State College rounded out the field. Dan Futrell and Eric Berge rounded out the Bulldogs runners that counted in the event with Futrell in 14th and Berge in 17th. Five other Gonzaga men's runners also competed in the event.

On the women's side Tausha Kuzmic of Lewis-Clark State ran the 4K event in a time of 14:37 to help the Warriors win the four team women's field with 36 points. Gonzaga was second with 46 as Jamie Schiel finished third with a time of 15:05.60. Jill Semenza also pulled in a Top 10 finish at sixth with a time of 15:17.10. Whitworth and Spokane Falls Community College rounded out the field.

Twelve Gonzaga women's runners competed in the event with five finishing in the Top 20. In addition to Top 10 finishes by Schiel and Semenza, the Bulldogs received a 13th place finish from Cathy Hall, a 16th place finish by Nellie Ballou and a 20th place finish by Naomi Gilna.
