Women's Golf Climbs Out of Cellar

POST FALLS, Idaho - Gonzaga University shot a final-round 321 Friday at The Highlands Golf Course to move out of the cellar in the Inland Empire Women's Intercollegiate tournament co-hosted by Eastern Washington University and the Bulldogs.

Mary Kate Morgan was the top Bulldog finisher in a tie for 20th after a 79 on Friday while Kelsey Posedel shot a final-round best 78 for the Bulldogs to end in a tie for 30th.

Gonzaga's final-round 321 gave the Bulldogs a 54-hole total of 987 for ninth place in the 10-team field after a horrendous 36 holes on Thursday that saw Gonzaga shoot 327 and 339 over the 5,977-yard, par 72 layout.

EWU won the team title by 18 strokes over the University of Idaho, 909-927. Amber Ward of Northern Arizona University captured medalist honors with a 220 for a 3-stroke lead over Jeanie Bagnell of EWU. Ward had a pair of 73's sandwiched around a second-round 74.
