CHENEY, Wash. - Jill Semenza finished third for the women and Joe Miller fourth for the men to highlight Gonzaga University's showing in the Eastern Washington University Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.
Miller covered the 8K EWU Recreation and Sports Complex course in 25:39.5 as the Bulldogs finished third with 71 points. Portland State University claimed team honors with 27 points while the host Eagles were second with 65.
Joe Manning finished 21st in 26:52.2 and Jeff Johnson 22nd in 26:54.8 to also aid the Bulldog cause. Nathan Kendrick, running unattached, captured individual honors in 25:30.7.
Semenza finished the 5K women's layout in 19:06.4 to help the Bulldogs to a fourth-place finish. The University of Calgary won the meet with 33 points followed by Oregon State University (47), PSU (73) and Gonzaga (99).
Jamie Schiel was 20th for the Bulldogs in 20:10.8. Shannon Slater-Popowich of Calgary was the individual winner in 18:31.7.
Gonzaga will compete in the L-C State Invitational next Saturday in Lewiston, Idaho, hosted by Lewis-Clark State College. It will be the final tune-up for the Bulldogs prior to the West Coast Conference Championship on Oct. 30.
