BROOMFIELD, Colo. - Gonzaga University's Mary Kate Morgan shot an opening-round 76 Monday to tie for 15th after 18 holes of the University of Colorado Heather Farr Memorial Invitational women's golf tournament.
Morgan's effort over the 6,128-yard, par 72 Omni Interlocker layout was the lone bright spot for the Bulldogs who didn't have anyone else break 82. The Bulldogs find themselves in last place in the 14-team field with a 328, one stroke out of 12th heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes. The University of Wyoming and Cal State Northridge each shot a 327.
Renee Skidmore of the University of Idaho and Johanna Lundberg of San Jose State University are tied for the first-day lead at 70, good for a 3-stroke lead over five others.
San Jose State leads the team chase with a 296 for a 5-stroke lead over Colorado State University.
