BROOMFIELD, Colo. - Gonzaga University shot a final-round 318 Tuesday and Mary Kate Morgan shot her second consecutive 76 as the 36-hole University of Colorado Heather Farr Memorial Invitational women's golf tournament drew to a close.
The 318, the second-best round for the Bulldogs this year, was good enough to move the Bulldogs out of last and into 13th with a 646. Morgan's back-to-back rounds of 76 tied her for 13th at 152 over the 6,128-yard, par 72 Omni Interlocker course.
Freshman Sarah Sheffield shot a 75 Tuesday for the best Bulldog round of the tourney to finish at 157 and tied for 33rd.
San Jose State University cruised to the team title with a 296-291 for a 36-hole score of 587 and a 19-stroke victory over Colorado State University and the University of Idaho, who tied for second at 606.
Carmina Calle of SJS captured medalist honors with a 73-68 for a 3-under par 141 and a 3-shot win over Renee Skidmore of Idaho who shot rounds of 70-74 for an even-par 144.
Gonzaga will conclude its fall season next Monday and Tuesday at the Bronco Fall Invitational hosted by Boise State University and played in Kuna, Idaho.
