Women's Tennis Narrowly Defeated By Utah State

BOZEMAN, Mont. - Seniors Jamie Buterbaugh and Angela Fry won their singles matches today, but the Gonzaga University women's tennis team was unable to hold on as the Utah State Aggies defeated the Bulldogs, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon. Gonzaga dropped to 6-3 on the season with the loss.
Buterbaugh won her singles match against Lindsey Bennion (2-6, 6-2, 7-5), handing Bennion her first loss in seven matches. Fry defeated Aggie Jill Smith for her Bulldogs' point (6-2, 7-6). Connie Head also won her match for Gonzaga, playing only to an 8-6 score since the match had already been decided in Utah State's favor.
Doubles play went in favor of the Aggies as well as Head and Sirrah Williams were the only Bulldog tandem to win their doubles match, with wins over Richelle Moon and Courtney Anderson, 8-2.
The women turn around to face Montana State on Sunday, Feb. 29 in Bozeman, Montana.
