Women's Golf Tied For Fifth At Snowbird Invite

TAMPA - The Gonzaga University women's golf team finished tied for fifth position after the first day of competition at the Northern Illinois Snowbird Invite in Tampa, Fla. The Bulldogs combined for a team score of 321 to tie Western Carolina University in the 18 team event at Pebble Creek Country Club. Senior Kelsey Posedel was the top Gonzaga individual with a round of 78 to stand tied for 15th.

The University of Southern Mississippi leads the team event with a score of 297, owning a 10-stroke lead of second place James Madison University. The University of Richmond is third followed by Southern Illinois University, then Gonzaga and Western Carolina. Jennifer Keefe and Mia Davidson, both of Southern Mississippi, rank first and second in individual play Keefe leading all players with an even-par 72.

Freshman Mary Kate Morgan also finished in the 70's for the Bulldogs with a round of 79 to tie for 20th. Carrie DeGree was one stroke behind Morgan sitting in a tie for 21st. Erin Picht shot an 84 and Jennifer Swanson had an 87 to round out the five Gonzaga golfers.

Play continues Friday morning at Pebble Creek Country Club to conclude the NIU Snowbird Invite.
