SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team was swept by Santa Clara University, 7-0, in West Coast Conference play on Thursday afternoon. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 7-10, 0-2 WCC play. The Broncos remain undefeated in WCC with a 4-0 conference record, 8-6 overall.
The teams competed in singles first, as inclement weather threatened the South Bay. Santa Clara won all six courts in straight sets, with Casey Knutson's court three victory over Sirrah Williams providing the match-clinching point.
Gonzaga pulled out of playing on the top doubles court, and SCU went on to sweep the remaining two matches to complete the afternoon.
The Bulldogs will remain in Santa Clara to take on Southern Utah on Friday, March 26 at 11 a.m.
