Women's Golf Finishes Seventh At NIU Springlake Classic

SEBRING, Fla. - Three Gonzaga University golfers tied for 18th position as the Bulldogs finished in seventh place after the final day of competition at the Northern Illinois University Springlake Classic in Sebring, Fla. Mary Kate Morgan, Carrie DeGree and Kelsey Posedel all shot two-day totals of 157 to finish in the tie for 18th. Morgan had been in a five way tie for fourth after the first day of competition but shot 83 in the second round. DeGreen and Posedel each shot final round totals of 78.

The Bulldogs shot a two-day total of 633 to finish seven strokes behind Lynn University. Gonzaga had been in sixth position after Friday's rounds with a team score of 311, but fell to a 322 on Saturday for the final result. Xavier University won the team competition with a total of 601 while Florida Gulf Coast College finished second at 604.

The individual title was won by Lindsey Snowden of UC Riverside after Snowden shot a two-day total of 143 (71 and 74). Jill Stein of Xavier finished second, one stroke behind Snowden. Gonzaga's remaining two golfers finished tied for 31st and 37th as Jennifer Swanson shot a total of 163 and Erin Picht finished at 164. Gonzaga will stay in Florida and compete next weekend in the NIU Snowbird Invite.
