Gonzaga's Knutson Runs Boston Marathon

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University senior women's golfer Cathy Knutson turned her golf spikes in for running shoes Monday, finishing 8,354th in the 108th Boston Marathon.
The Mora, Minn., 22-year-old accounting major covered the course in an official time of 4:19.31 with a net time of 4:10.07. Runners are credited with a start time offset which in her case was 9:24. She ran the course on a 9:33 pace.
She was the 2,351st female across the finish line and finished 1,718th in her division. Her splits were 25:18 for 5K, 51:02 for 10K, 1:17.18 for 15K, 1:45.36 for 20K, 1:51.19 for the half marathon, 2:14.44 for 25K, 2:45.44 for 30K, and 3:18.22 for 35K.
Catherine Ndereba of Kenya captured her third Boston Marathon in 2:24.27 for a 16-second victory over Ethiopia's Elfenesh Alemu who finished in 2:24.43. The margin of victory equals the closest finish in the women's race in Boston Marathon history.
