Women's Tennis Defeated In WCC Third Round

MORAGA, Calif. - Junior Sirrah Williams won her second singles point of the West Coast Conference Championships, but the Gonzaga University women's tennis was defeated by University of San Francisco, 4-1, on Sunday morning. The Bulldogs ended their season with an 11-14 record, placing eighth in the WCC.
San Francisco won the doubles point with an 8-1 victory by Camille Pamart and Joana Laranjinha over Jamie Buterbaugh and Angela Fry in the No. 1 spot. Dons Gabi Ruiz and Megan Tiegs also won their match against Leigh Orne and Williams, 8-4, at No. 2. Anna Skogerboe and Michelle Duncan left their match unfinished against Bulldogs Katie Sanders and Florence Wasko.
San Francisco won three-of-six singles matches starting at the No. 2 position with Tiegs' victory over Fry (6-4, 6-2), and Ruiz defeated Orne (7-5, 6-1) at No. 3. Williams posted the only point for the Bulldogs at No. 4 against Laranjinha (6-3, 6-1), but the Dons earned the necessary point for the win as Skogerboe defeated Sanders (6-0, 6-2) at No. 5. Buterbaugh and Connie Head both left matches unfinished.
