Kristi Aamodt Named Academic All-District VIII

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University women's rower Kristi Aamodt was named to the first team Academic All-America District VIII At-Large Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Aamodt becomes the second women's rower to earn Academic All-District honors and the first to earn first-team recognition. Vicki Olson was a second team selection for Gonzaga in 2001. A senior from Seattle, Aamodt holds a 3.88 in public relations and will now move on to the national ballot for Academic All-America honors.
Aamodt completed her career at Gonzaga helping the Bulldogs win their eighth straight West Coast Conference championship this season. She was a first team All-WCC and All-WIRA selection this season while also earning CRCA All-West Region honors in 2003 and 2004. As a member of the Bulldogs varsity eight Aamodt was a member of last season's team that captured the ECAC National Invitational race while placing second at the WIRA Championships. She also earned All-WCC Academic honors in 2002, 2003 and 2004.
Aamodt was one of ten student-athletes selected to the first team for District VIII which includes all Division I athletes from the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and British Columbia in Canada. The student-athletes for the at-large team competed in the sports of bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis and water polo. A student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve and have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average.
