Sheffield Ties For 6th In Inland Cup

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Sarah Sheffield shot an 83 to finish tied for sixth at the Inland Cup over the par 72, 5,883-yard Walla Walla Country Club layout to open the spring golf season Monday.
Sheffield shot 41-42 as the top Bulldog finisher. Mary Kate Morgan tied for 11th with a 42-44 for an 86.
Washington State University took team and individual honors, the Cougars firing a 316 for an easy victory over runner-up University of Idaho at 333, and Kim Welch taking medalist honors with a 38-35 for a 73. Welch defeated Idaho's Renee Skidmore and WSU's Maria Kostina by six strokes.
Gonzaga was third in the team chase at 354 and Lewis-Clark State College finished last in the four-team field with a 367. The tournament format called for each team to enter six players with the top five figuring in the team scoring.
