MEDICAL LAKE, Wash. - Windy conditions and a heavy chop on the water hampered Gonzaga University's crew regatta on Saturday morning as the Bulldogs hosted Orange Coast College, the University of British Columbia and Washington State in a exhibition at Silver Lake.
The Gonzaga men raced all four schools with the boats racing three timed pieces on the course. Gonzaga entered boats in a varsity 8+, junior varsity 8+ and novice 8+ for the day.
The Gonzaga women only faced British Columbia also competing in three timed pieces on the course. Gonzaga entered boats in a varsity 8+, junior varsity 8+, third varsity 8+ and novice 8+.
Two of the timed pieces were raced into a strong head wind and heavy current while the middle piece was raced with a tail wind. No results were recorded for the event.
Gonzaga's varsity boats will return to action next weekend when they travel to the WCC Challenge in Sacramento, Calif. Gonzaga's men's junior varsity and novice boats will travel to Pullman, Wash., to face Washington State while the Cougar women's junior varsity and novice boats will come to Spokane to race at Silver Lake.
