Morgan's 75 Ties For Fifth

CARMEL, Calif. - Gonzaga University's Mary Kate Morgan is tied for fifth after an opening-round 75 and her Bulldog teammates are fourth after Monday's play at the 10th annual Santa Clara University Colby Invitational women's golf tournament at Rancho Canada Golf Club.

Morgan shot 37-38 over the East Course, a par-71, 5,812 yard layout. Tuesday's final 18 holes will be over the Wast Course, which plays 5,947 yards, a par 72. She was in a three-way tie for fifth, two strokes off the lead.

UC Riverside's Courtney O'Neill leads all individuals after carding a 1-over-par 72. Highlander teammate LeAnh Nguyen and Sacramento State's Sarah Kuykendall share second, as both carded 3-over 74s. Morgan and two others follow at 75.

In addition to having the individual leader, the Highlanders are also in first place in the team chase. UCR shot a 302 for a 9-stroke lead over the University of Northern Colorado, a 12-stroke lead over the host Broncos and a 15-stroke lead over the Bulldogs. Gonzaga's 317 was good for a 1-shot lead over Eastern Wahsington University for fourth place.

The final round of the 36-hole event will tee off Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. on the first and 10th tees.
