Men's Crew Third At San Diego Crew Classic

SAN DIEGO - The Gonzaga University men's varsity crew finished off a solid weekend at the San Diego Crew Classic held at Mission Bay as the Bulldogs picked up a third place finish in Sunday afternoon's Cal Cup Grand Final. Gonzaga won the event in 2003 before claiming the Petite Final championship last year.
Gonzaga posted a time of 6:09.79 to hold off the University of Colorado for the second straight day at CU's varsity 8+ crossed at 6:10.04. Both crews finished one, two, in Saturday's heat racing. Unfortunately no one could track down Trinity (CT) College as they won the event with a time of 5:58.5, a five-second victory over the University of Minnesota at 6:03.73.
The University of California light weight crew was fifth at 6:11.05 with the University of Southern California last with a time of 6:11.76.
The Bulldogs varsity 8+ boat will included coxswain Lauren Gadeken, stroke Connor Barry, Pat Haffey, Scott McCoy, Nathan Wilson, Ben Foley, David Hinshaw, Joe Dudley and bow Warren North.
Gonzaga men's and women's crew returns to action next Saturday with racing action against Western Washington University and the University of Puget Sound at Lake Samish in Bellingham, Wash.
