Novice Crews Accept Opening Day Invitation

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University men's and women's novice crews will head to Seattle this weekend after accepting an invitation to compete in the annual Opening Day Regatta at Montlake Cut. The Bulldogs will enter a novice 8+ in both the men's and women's races. Racing will begin for Gonzaga with the women's race at 10:54 a.m. and the men's race following four-minutes later at 10:58 a.m.
Gonzaga's men's novice 8+ will consist of coxswain Dana Skoog, stroke Joe Dudley, Warren North, Scott McCoy, Brett Boissevain, Ben Rosenblatt, Michael Smoot, Drew Smith and bow Drew Hastings.
Gonzaga's women's novice 8+ will include coxswain Joan Aubry, stroke Whitney Patrick, Kelsey Koenig, Grace Wallace, Julie Smetana, Sara Amatuzio, Cherami Cadwell, Jennifer Pierce and bow Kathryn Kocarnik.
Gonzaga's novice men made their last Opening Day Regatta appearance in 2001 finishing fourth behind two boats from the University of Washington and one from Oregon State University. The Gonzaga women's novice boat finished second in their last Opening Day Regatta appearance in 2000 losing only to Washington's top novice boat.
