INDIANAPOLIS - Three current and former Gonzaga University men's rowers earned medals at the recently completed US Rowing National Championships held July 20-24 at the Indianapolis Rowing Center. Connor Barry, Nathan Wilson and Mark Voorhees all earned medals rowing for either the Vesper Boat Club or US Rowing Midwest Development Camp team with the trio competing in the men's senior 4+ and men's senior 8+. Barry also rowed in the men's intermediate 8+.
Barry, from Walla Walla, Wash., rowed for the US Rowing Midwest Development Camp helping the boat place second in both the intermediate and senior men's 8+ races. Barry was also in the men's senior 4+ that finished fifth. Barry has been a three-year member of the Bulldogs team and will return this fall as the lone senior on the Gonzaga men's crew.
Wilson, from Post Falls, Ida., rowed for the Vesper Boat Club winning gold medals in both the men's senior 4+ and men's senior 8+. Wilson was a four-year member of the Bulldogs squad and was a member of the Gonzaga varsity 4+ that finished seventh in the nation at this year's IRA National Championships.
Voorhees, from Bow, Wash., rowed for the Vesper Boat Club winning gold in the men's senior 8+. Voorhees was a four-year member of the Bulldogs squad rowing from 2001-04. During his senior year Voorhees was the stroke of the Bulldogs varsity 4+ that finished ninth in the nation at the IRA National Championships.
