OGDEN, Utah - Trevor Loe fired a final-round 71 Tuesday to finish tied for eighth at the Purple and Red Invitational men's golf tournament co-hosted by Weber State University and the University of Utah.
The sophomore finished with a 54-hole total of 213 over the 7,147-yard, par 72 Valley View Golf Course. Bulldog freshman Bowdy Ehler made the biggest improvement on Tuesday, going from a tie for 48th to finish tied for 33rd with a final-round 71 after a pair of 76's for Monday's 36 holes.
The Bulldogs finished at 886 and in ninth place overall, slipping one spot from Monday's eighth place standing after 36 holes. The Bulldogs were just two strokes behind Idaho State University for eighth place.
West Coast Conference foe Santa Clara University came from five strokes off the pace to defeat Weber State by two strokes. The Broncos finished at 855 while WSU and Boise State University deadlocked for second at 857.
Dustin Pimm of the University of Utah shot a final-round 64 for a 54-hole score of 202 and a 5-stroke victory over Jesse Galvon of the University of San Francisco.
