Gonzaga Women's Golf Finishes Second

SEBRING, Fla. - Mary Kate Morgan shot a final-round 71 and Jennifer Swanson a 74 Saturday to help vault Gonzaga University to a second-place finish at the Northern Illinois University Springlake Invitational.

The Bulldogs, sixth after Friday's 18 holes, shot a final-round 294 for a 36-hole total of 600. Gonzaga finished four strokes behind tournament champion Lynn University and edged Barry University by one stroke for second.

Morgan followed an opening-round 75 with here 1-under-par 71 on Saturday to place seventh at 146, seven shots behind medalist Christine Brijalba of Texas State University. Swanson had rounds of 76-74 for a 36-hole total of 150 for a seven-way tie for ninth.

Lacey Jo Manwaring (72), Lauren Phillips (77) and Sarah Sheffield (78) had solid rounds Saturday to help the Bulldogs move into second.
