BEAUMONT, Calif. - Gonzaga University's men's golf team finished 17th in the Braveheart Classic hosted by the University of California-Riverside.
The Bulldogs shot a 54-hole total of 947 over the 7,003-yard, par 72 Oak Valley Golf Club course to finish well behind co-champions Cal Poly and Santa Clara University at 884.
Jimmy Hayes was the lone Bulldog to break par in the tournament, firing an opening-round 71. Trevor Loe was the Bulldogs medalist at 231 after rounds of 78-75-78 to finish tied for 63rd.
Chris Heintz of UCLA was the medalist at 209 for a 5-stroke victory over teammate Lucas Lee and Jacksonville University's Russel Knox.
The Bulldogs will be idle until March 16-17 when they compete at the Sam Houston State University Bearkat Classic in Huntsville, Texas.
