Spokane, Wash. -Emmylyn Bentley captured the 800 meters and Jenny Dilts and Lili Hansen finished 1-2 in the 3000 meter steeplechase at the Sam Adams Classic on Saturday at Whitworth College.
Bentley won the 800 in a season best 2:25.99 while Dilts won the steeplechase in 13:55.49 in her second outing in the event this season, while Hansen was second in 14:26.22 in her first attempt at the event this season.
Molly Funk was third in the 5000 meters in 19:14.96 in her first attempt at that distance this season.
On the men's side, Colby Litzenberger was fifth in the 1500 meters in 4:04.39, Eric Mendoza was seventh in 4:07.33 and Ken Santman was ninth in a season best 4:09.33. Noah Stout was sixth in the 800 meters in a season-best 2:02.12.
Also over the weekend, the Bulldogs Joe Miller finished eighth in the 5000 meters in the prestigous Mt. SAC Relays host by Mt. San Antonio Community College, but the Bulldog senior fell short in his bid to meet the NCAA Regional qualifying standard of 14:12.
Miller ran a 14:55.28, four seconds out of seventh. Jeff Helmer of Arizona State University, running unattached, won the race in 14:26.37. Miller's time is a season best but well off his school outdoor record of 14:34.72 set in 2005.
