Women's Rowers Compete at Henley Regatta

SPOKANE, Wash. - Four Gonzaga University women's rowers competed at the 125th Royal Canadian Henley Regatta August 7-12. Recent graduate Nicole Aadland-Lewis, seniors Kelly Steinhaus and Cory Nelson, as well as sophomore Liz Moore all competed at the event held on the Martindale Pond in St. Catherines, Ontario.
In the Senior B eight, Aadland-Lewis and Nelson, members of the Vesper BC boat, captured the Henley Gold. Vesper BC won the race with a mark of 6:41.45, nearly ten seconds ahead of second-place finisher Boston RC (6:52.61).
Potomac BC, which Steinhaus was a member of, captured a first place finish in the Senior B quad event. Potomac BC captured the gold with a time of 7:13.43, after barley edging out Peterborough, who clocked it at 7:14.29.
Vesper BC and Aadland-Lewis also posted a third place finish in the Senior eight event, finishing with a time of 6:56.63.
Aadland-Lewis and Nelson both also competed for Vesper BC in the dash eight event, finishing third in the finals. The boat earned a spot in the finals after winning its respective heat with a mark of 1:32.45.
Aadland-Lewis also competed for Vesper BC in the Senior B four race. Vesper BC placed fifth with a time of 7:02.98.
Both Steinhaus and Moore competed in the Senior B double events. Steinhaus and the Potomac BC posted an 8:01.04 mark in the semifinals after winning its heat with a time of 7:57.17. Moore and Austinburg BC were unable to advance out of its heat after finishing with an 8:24.27 mark for a fifth place finish.
Moore also competed in the Senior B pair event as the Austinburg BC boat was unable to advance to the semifinals after placing sixth in its heat with a time of 8:51.04
