Varsity 4+ Tops Dartmouth at Charles River Challenge

BOSTON, Mass, - The Gonzaga University women's rowing Varsity 8+ and Junior Varsity 8+ both lost to Dartmouth College while the Bulldog Varsity 4+ defeated the Big Green on Sunday, the final day of the Charles River Challenge in Boston, Mass.
The Varsity 8+ lost by 10 seconds, Dartmouth covering the 2,000-meter course in 6:32.70 while Gonzaga finished in 6:42.32. In the Junior Varsity 8+, the Big Green rowed a 6:44.90 to the Bulldogs 6:55.08.
Gonzaga's lone victory on Sunday came in the Varsity 4+ as the Bulldogs covered the course in 7:31.70. Dartmouth crossed the finish line eight seconds later at 7:39.93.
Gonzaga will return to action on May 2 as it looks to defend its West Coast Conference championship before competing in the WIRA Championships on May 3-4. Both races take place at Lake Natoma in Sacramento, Calif.
**On Saturday it was reported that Gonzaga's Varsity 8+ took second in its afternoon race with Northeastern University winning the race and Syracuse coming in third. The results that were sent out from the Charles River Challenge that day were incorrect. The Bulldogs actually placed third behind both Northeastern and Syracuse with a time of 6:41.42. Northeastern won the race in 6:32.10, while Syracuse was second with a finish of 6:35.76.
