SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University senior Bowdy Ehler of Gering, Neb., won the 25th Pacific Northwest Golf Association's Men's Amateur Public Links at Hangman Valley Golf Course Sunday.
Ehler, who a week earlier won the Spokane City Championship, carded the low round of the championship with a 3-under par 69 to force a playoff with first-round leader Kyle Crawford of Coos Bay, Ore. Ehler defeated Crawford on the fourth hole of the playoff.
Ehler and Crawford, both finished at 3-under par 141 to force the playoff. On the first hole of the playoff both players made birdie on the par 4, 18th. The second hole of the playoff they both made pars on the par 4 first hole. On the third hole both made birdie on the par 4 second. Then, on the fourth hole of the playoff, Crawford lost his ball in the woods and conceded the hole to Ehler, and walked back to the clubhouse. In stroke play, a player may not concede a hole, therefore Ehler finished the hole for a rather odd victory.
Bulldog senior Michael Hansen of Mill Creek, Wash., finished tied for sixth at 147.
