Howe In Title Hunt At Fresno State Lexus Golf Classic

FRESNO, Calif. - Gonzaga University's women's golf team finds itself in 12th place after 36 holes of the Fresno State Lexus Golf Classic Monday at Copper River Country Club.
Jessica Howe was the only Bulldog to post two sub-80 rounds, and she finds herself seven strokes off the lead and tied for sixth heading into Tuesday's final 18-hole round of the 54-hole event. The freshman had rounds of 73-71 for an even-par 144 over the 6,262-yard, par 72 layout.
Miki Ueoka of Santa Clara University holds the 36-hole lead at 137 after rounds of 68-69. That was good for a 4-stroke lead over Alice Kim of UC Davis and Kay Hoey of Long Beach State University, both with rounds of 69-72.
The Bulldogs had rounds of 311-317 for 628, nine strokes behind the University of Hawai'i for 11th place. The University of San Francisco is at 590 for a 1-shot lead over UC Irvine.
While Howe was in the title chase, the next closest Bulldog was Sage Suffecool in a tie for 52nd at 160 with rounds of 78-82.
The golfers teed off Monday morning with overcast skies and occasional light showers, but by the afternoon's second round the weather had cleared.
