Bulldogs Sweep San Jose State For Fourth Straight Win

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - The Gonzaga University women's team earned its fourth consecutive win with a 7-0 victory over San Jose State University in Palm Springs, Calif. Thursday afternoon.
The Bulldogs improved to 7-3 on the season after posting a perfect 7-0 score for the third time this season. Once again Gonzaga used solid doubles play to build an early 1-0 lead before putting the match away by sweeping all six singles matches.
"I am very proud of how we came out and played with high intensity in the doubles matches. We carried over that momentum and also continued to play with high intensity in the singles matches," said head coach D.J Gurule. "Everybody played very well today."
Freshman Kristina Zauere won her sixth consecutive match to improve her overall singles record to a team-best 9-1 and sophomore Rika Mehndiratta posted a win for the fifth straight match to improve her overall record to 6-3. Fellow sophomore Clare Dodge won at number four singles to record her seventh win of the season.
Gonzaga wraps up play in Palm Springs Friday against the University of Toledo before heading to Seattle, Wash. to play Michigan State University Saturday and Seattle University Sunday.
