LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women's rowing team was back in action Saturday morning, matching up with Washington State University at Liberty Lake.
Gonzaga's best races came from the Novice 8+ and Varsity 8+ teams but the Cougars were able to post wins in each of the five races.
The Bulldogs had its Novice 8+ team of Natalie Wolfrom, Alicia Adams, Elise Perkins, Chelsea Quilling, Teddi McGuire, Kat Storwick, Lizzie Braick, Maryssa Thompson and Olivia Miller finish just behind the WSU squad. The Zags Varsity 8+ team of Emily Watson, Katie Atkins, Alissa Stempson, Samantha Cekovic, Hanna McClintock, Liz Moore, Paula Welly, Sami Koppinger and Whitney Engle had one of the better performances of the day.
"It was good to have our Varsity 8+ team come out and compete against a solid Washington State team. I thought they rowed well today," said head coach Melissa Flint. "Overall I thought each team rowed a lot better this week and these next three weeks will allow us to regroup and prepare for the Charles River races in April."
Next up for the Zags is the Charles River Challenge at Charles River in Boston, Mass. Apr. 25-26.
