SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Gonzaga University sophomore Rachel Sibbitt has been named to the All-West Coast Conference women's golf team after she tied for second in the WCC Championship earlier this week.
Sibbitt, whose tie for second is the best finish in Gonzaga's WCC Championship history, earned the fourth All-WCC selection in Gonzaga history. Mary Kate Morgan was a two-time selection in 2006-07 and Lisa Wasinger was the Bulldogs inaugural honoree in 1997.
Sibbitt had a 54-hole score of 228, one shot shy of Morgan's school record for the WCC Championship.
A native of Mill Valley, Calif., she tied for 11th in last year's WCC Championship as a freshman.
University of San Francisco junior Danielle Cvitanov was named the 2009 WCC Player of the Year by vote of conference coaches on Wednesday. Cvitanov posted four top five finishes this season and tied for fifth with teammate Diana Hong at this year's WCC Championships.
USF took home WCC Coach of the Year honors with head coach Ria Quazon guiding her team to its eighth straight second-place finish. Nabbing WCC Freshman of the Year honors was Pepperdine's Lisa McCloskey, who picked up three top 10 finishes on the season and tied for 10th at the WCC Championships.
