Fallgren Top American At Junior World Championships

LA JOLLA, Calif. - Gonzaga University incoming freshman Victoria Fallgren is the top American halfway through the 2009 Callaway Golf Junior World Championships being played at Torrey Pines Golf Course - North Course.
Fallgren shot an opening-round 1-under par 73 Tuesday and a 1-over par 75 Wednesday over the 6,269-yard, par 74 layout.
Her 36-hole total of even-par 148 has her tried for fifth place with Dottie Ardina of the Philippines, four shots behind Moriya Jutanugarn of Thailand who had rounds of 71-71 for 144. Fallgren is two shots out of third place which is shared by Hsuan-Yu Yao of Taiwan and Christine Wong of Canada who are at 148.
Most of Falllgren's woes both days have come on the front nine but she has rallied on the back nine. Wednesday she had a double-bogey 6 on the par 4, 374-yard fourth hole and shot par the remainder of the front nine. She came back with birdies on the 11th, 13th and 14th before getting bogey 4 on the par 3, 159-yard 17th to finish 1-over.
Tuesday Fallgren had a pair of bogeys on the front nine, started the backside with a bogey, birdied 11, posted an eagle 3 on the par 5, 430-yard 13th and birdied the par 5, 485-yard finishing hole for her round of 1-under.
