Zags Post Sweep In Final Match of Opening Weekend

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team closed its season-opening weekend with a 7-0 sweep of University of South Dakota Sunday morning. Newcomer Prue Teitzel finished off a solid first weekend as a Zag, winning at No. 3 singles to post a perfect 3-0 singles record during the weekend for the Bulldogs (2-1).
For the second consecutive day the Bulldogs opened the day taking all three of the doubles matches to claim the matches' first point.
Kristina Zauere led the Zags with a three-set come from behind win at No. 1 singles. Rika Mehndiratta then posted an impressive 6-1 6-1 win at No. 2 singles. Clare Dodge won at No. 4 singles and Sophie Lantta followed with a win at No. 5. Spokane native Britta Stime posted a 6-4 6-4 win at No. 6 singles to claim her first career collegiate win and wrap up the sweep for Gonzaga.
The Bulldogs head to Utah next weekend to face Utah State University Saturday and Weber State University Sunday.
