SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team saw its three-match winning streak come to an end after dropping a 6-1 defeat to the University of San Francisco in a West Coast Conference match Sunday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (7-3, 0-1 WCC) were led by Prue Teitzel who won her three-set singles match at No. 4 singles. The win gives her a team-best 7-1 overall singles record in her first collegiate season. In doubles play, the Dons took all three matches but the Zags hung tough in No. 3 doubles as the Zags tandem of Sophie Lantta and Jackie Tabb pushed their match to 8-6.
"We struggled a bit today," commented head coach D.J. Gurule. "I thought we suffered from the long layoff but we'll put this one behind us and look toward our match against Santa Clara on Tuesday."
The Bulldogs continue their spring break trip in northern California, matching up against Santa Clara Tuesday and UC Santa Clara Wednesday.
