PULLMAN, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team had its season-best five match winning streak snapped by Washington State University Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs overall record fell to 12-5 with the 7-0 loss to the Cougars.
Gonzaga hung with WSU throughout the afternoon but struggled to come away with any points as the Cougars held off the Zags to take all three doubles matches. The Bulldogs No. 3 doubles tandem of Jackie Tabb and Sophie Lantta played very well but dropped their match 9-7. Tabb led the way for the Zags in singles play, forcing her No. 6 singles match to go the distance but eventually suffered a 6-2, 3-6, 14-12 defeat.
The Cougars went on to post wins in all six singles matches. Gonzaga hosts Northern Arizona University at Gonzaga Prep beginning at Noon on Sunday.
