Zags End Fall At Newport Autumn Rowing Festival Sunday

SPOKANE, Wash. -

ON TAP: The Gonzaga University women's rowing program closes out its 2011 fall season at the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival (NARF). The NARF is set for Sunday, Nov. 6 on Newport Bay. This is the first time in school history the Bulldogs will participate in the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival.

WHO IS RACING AT THE NEWPORT AUTUMN ROWING FESTIVAL: The Gonzaga University women's rowing Varsity 8+ will be the lone boat partaking in NARF on Sunday. The Bulldogs will race crews from UCLA, Oklahoma, San Diego State and the University of San Diego. Competition begins at 8 a.m. with the Zags racing in the open eight event.

WOMEN'S ROWING HEAD COACH GLENN PUTYRAE ON THE NARF: "Basically this is our last race of the fall. This is our last opportunity to see the progress we have made before the next phase of training begins. The Varsity 8+ is ready and excited to represent their team and Gonzaga against lots of teams we will race this spring.

VARSITY 8+ LINEUP: Natalie Wolfrom, Madison Keaty, Paula Welly, Christy Mentele, Teddi McGuire, Anna Olson, Ann Marie Driver, Sarah Atkins, Christine Powers.
