HEAD COACH DAN GEHN'S THOUGHTS ON SUNDAY'S RACE: "We are excited we can host on Silver Lake with the ice coming off early this week. We had a disappointing first outing last week in the Varsity 8+ but have made some good changes; now we need to execute them. Oregon State looks strong top to bottom!"
LAST TIME AGAINST OREGON STATE: Rough water in the morning delayed the start of Gonzaga University men's rowing dual at Oregon State last year. Despite the delay, the Bulldogs captured the Second Freshman 8+ in 6:47.62 to OSU's 6:48.04, the only victory of the day for Gonzaga. The Beavers took the featured Varsity 8+ by six seconds over the Zags, winning in 6:30.80 to the Bulldogs 6:36.80.
OPENING WEEKEND; HOW DID IT GO?: The Gonzaga University men's rowing team began its 2011 season with mixed results last Friday. The Bulldogs, opening the season for the second consecutive year at the UC San Diego/San Diego Regatta, took first in an exciting Freshman 8+ race and place second in the Junior Varsity 8+ but came in third in the marquee Varsity 8+ battle.
