Bulldogs At Western Washington Regatta Saturday

SPOKANE, Wash. -
ON TAP: The Gonzaga University women's rowing team, after nearly two weeks off, hits the water this Saturday in Bellingham, Wash., at the Western Washington Regatta on Lake Samish. The Bulldogs will row both Western Washington and Puget Sound.
HEAD COACH MELISSA FLINT'S THOUGHTS ON THE UPCOMING REGATTA: "We are looking forward to getting on the race course and seeing if the work and changes we've made since our last weekend of racing is paying off. We've had two weeks of figuring out our line-ups and making small changes to see if we can gain more speed. This is a very big weekend for us. Western Washington always puts up a fight, and hopefully we can respond to it and keep the Blue Cup."
ABOUT WESTERN WASHINGTON: Western Washington University is the six-time defending NCAA Division II national champions. The Vikings, who are looking to remain unbeaten in the Varsity 8+ and the Varsity 4+ this weekend, are ranked No. 1 in the latest Collegiate Rowing Association/NCAA Division II Poll. This will be Western Washington's only home event of the season.
ABOUT PUGET SOUND: Puget Sound made its eighth straight NCAA Division III national appearance last spring, finishing sixth. The Puget Sound Varsity 8+ boat has placed first in two races this season and second in another.
HOW GONZAGA HAS DONE AGAINST WESTERN WASHINGTON: The Gonzaga University women's rowing Varsity 8+ has defeated Western Washington University in its last four races.
