Women's Rowing At Portland Fall Classic Sunday

ZAGS HEAD TO PORTLAND FALL CLASSIC: The Gonzaga University women's rowing team heads to Portland to partake in the Portland Fall Classic, Sunday, Oct. 28. The Bulldogs will race a Varsity 8+, Second Varsity 8+ and two Novice 8+'s. This is the second-straight year the Zags will participate in the Portland Fall Classic.
ABOUT THE PORTLAND FALL CLASSIC: Racing for the Portland Fall Classic is on the traditional Fall Classic 5,000-meter course on the Willamette River in downtown Portland.
WHAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR AT THE PORTLAND FALL CLASSIC?: The Gonzaga University women's rowing Varsity 8+ took a respectable third in its race at the 2011 Portland Fall Classic, behind Washington State University and Oregon State University. The Bulldogs finished the course in 19:14.36. The Zag Varsity 4+ and Junior Varsity 4+ both placed second in their respective races. Gonzaga will not launch any Varsity 4+ boats at this year's event.

HEAD COACH GLENN PUTYRAE'S THOUGHTS ON THE PORTLAND FALL CLASSIC: "We are looking forward to the opportunity to race this week and competing to our capability this weekend. We are also excited for our first road competition with our first year rowers. This will also be our first competition against other schools we will see again this spring."
