Bulldog Men Back In AP, ESPN/USA Today Basketball Polls

LAS VEGAS - Gonzaga University's men's basketball team is back in both major polls this week, checking in at No. 24 in the Associated Press Top 25 and 25th in the ESPN/USA Today vote of coaches.

The Bulldogs are back in both polls since being ranked 24th in both the week of Feb. 13.

Gonzaga garnered 170 points in the AP balloting, 86 points behind No. 23 University of Notre Dame. The Bulldogs beat the Fighting Irish 73-53 at the McCarthey Athletic Center Nov. 30. The Zags received 80 points in the ESPN/USA Today voting, 32 points behind No. 24 Temple University.

The Bulldogs will play in their 15th straight Zappos.com West Coast Conference Championships title game Monday at 6 p.m. against Saint Mary's College. The Zags are the No. 2 seed while SMC comes in as the No. 1 seed after winning the WCC regular-season title outright. Saint Mary's is 18th in this week's ESPN/USA Today poll and the first team receiving votes in the AP rankings.

It's the fourth straight year the Bulldogs and Gaels have met for the title, Gonzaga sandwiching wins in 2009 and 2011 around a 2010 SMC victory. The winner receives the WCC's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
