Women's Tennis Finishes East Coast Trip 3-0

ORLANDO, Fla. - Gonzaga University women's tennis capped off a perfect trip to Florida in dominate fashion with a 6-1 ousting of Radford University Friday. The Zags swept the doubles matches and cruised through singles competition.
Now on a three match winning streak, Gonzaga is 9-4 overall.
The Bulldogs poise in doubles play was impressive. No. 1's Katie Edwards and Kylie Peek defeated Taylor Newman and Meg Napolitano 8-3 to win their sixth match as a team.
Winning their third consecutive match as duos, No. 2's Samantha Polayes and Melanie Yates downed Hana Babic and Allison Michael 8-3; and No. 3's Franziska Koehler and Alexandra Tallas handled Gemma Vallas and Taylor Fay 6-5.
Singles was much like doubles play, more Zag victories.
Edwards battled and overcame Valls 7-6, 7-5 while Klingert controlled her match 6-0, 6-2 over Babic. Polayes won her seventh consecutive singles match over Napolitano and Yates downed Fay 6-3, 6-1. Koehler capped off the impressive showing with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Michael.
The win concludes the squads East Coast trip. GU finished 3-0 in Florida and will return to the court Mar. 22 in Spokane when West Coast Conference member University of San Diego visits the Spokane Racquet Club.
