Brendan Connolly Ties For Fifth At CGA Championship

DENVER, Colo. - Gonzaga University men's golfer Brendan Connolly tied for fifth at the 77th Colorado Golf Association (CGA) Stroke Play Championship, held at Pinehurst Country Club, Aug. 8-11.
Connolly, a junior-to-be on the Bulldogs squad, posted an even-par 280 at the event to tie with Minkyu Jeon for fifth. The Castle Rock, Colo., native had rounds of 67-71-68-74 for his 4-day score of 280.
He birdied four holes over the opening 18 holes, with just one bogey, for his tournament low row of 67; which also was the second lowest score of the tournament. All-together, Connolly had 12 birdies, 50 pars, eight bogeys and two double-bogeys.
Connolly was one of 45 players out of the original 84 to make the cut after the first two rounds.
John Ahern won the CGA Stroke Play Championship after winning a playoff against Andrew Cornella. Ahern posted a 5-under 275 (71-66-68-70).
