Saturday could be one of the best Sundodger races of the past few years. The word is that all of the D-I and D-II schools from Washington will be present, as well as University of Idaho and University of British Columbia. It sounds like people are bringing out the big guns too, so competition will be quick. Coming off of our strong race two weeks ago at Mead, I'm excited to see how our pack will hold up in a big group.
We've been looking strong in the weight room these past two weeks, and our workouts have been incredible. Last Thursday we did a hill workout that pretty much knocked our legs right out from under us; but now any mountain we encounter on a course will just seem like a molehill. This week we put in some solid tempo work at Audubon Park, which looked like it hadn't been mowed in about a month. Running in long grass is rough. It just feels like all of your energy and speed is sucked out of you with every step. But putting in work like that prepares us for any terrain we might see; you never know when the grounds crew at a course could go on strike! Yesterday we put in some speed work, and I could definitely see my teammates were hungry for competition, especially Lauren (Bergam) and Maggie (Jones). Those two were just chompin' at the bit to get their wheels turning. It should make for some fun times tomorrow!
